Coastal and Marine Life
Dominica’s marine ecosystems are central to biodiversity, food security, and community well-being. Our Marine Conservation work supports the protection of coastal and marine environments through education, community stewardship, and collaboration with local and international partners. This approach is informed by Blue Zones principles, which emphasize the connection between healthy environments, traditional food systems, active lifestyles, and strong community ties. Dominica’s notably high number of centenarians reflects this relationship between environmental health and long-term human well-being, reinforcing the importance of protecting marine ecosystems as part of a holistic approach to resilience and sustainability.

Student Marine Learning
Student Marine Learning introduces Dominican students to ocean ecosystems through hands-on, creative education. By combining art-based learning with field trips to the coast, students explore marine life, coastal habitats, and ocean conservation in ways that are engaging and accessible. Through observation, creative expression, and real-world experiences at the ocean, students build environmental understanding, curiosity, and a lasting connection to marine stewardship.
Ocean Stewardship
Community Ocean Stewardship supports the care of Dominica’s coastal and marine environments through community engagement, education, and hands-on action. Through organized beach cleanups and locally led stewardship activities, communities come together to reduce marine debris, protect coastal habitats, and strengthen awareness of ocean health.
These activities build local capacity by engaging residents, students, and volunteers in learning, leadership, and long-term stewardship. Combining practical action with education, helps foster shared responsibility for protecting marine ecosystems that support livelihoods, food systems, and communities.
